Mukty.Co.Cc, Moscow: An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale shook the eastern coast of Kamchatka, Russia, on Monday (21 / 2) morning. Reported the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The quake struck at 09:43 local time (21:43 am GMT) on the coast of Kamchatka Peninsula, about 400 kilometers northeast of the regional capital Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of 9.3 kilometers.
So far, according to some local officials, there were no casualties. The Emergencies Ministry spokesman told AFP the Kamchatka Territory that no damage was caused genpa, whose center was 50 miles south of the nearest village, Ust-Kamchatsk. This earthquake might be an after shock of the Japan quake, because Phillipine tectonic plate and vast pacific tectonic plates are destabilized by that massive Japan quake. Hope that these after shocks don't hurt people of other countries.
The city has developed a tourist infrastructure. About twenty large tourism companies offer a wide range of services from bear hunting to paragliding.
Oh my gosh, 6.3? That's a big one! I live in California which is basically earthquake central and we're waiting on a pretty big one out here too. I hope they're doing okay following this one, was there a lot of damage?
