TV station Al Arabyia Saturday denied news according to which President HosniMubarak has resigned from the leadership of the ruling party in Cairo, said on Monday.Information dismissed the head of Mubarak's National Democratic Party (NDP) came in a context where the public broadcaster announced that the party leaders have resigned"en masse". Among those who resign and include Gamal Mubarak, son of PresidentHosni Mubarak
  


The new secretary general of the party is Hossam Badrawi, seen as a member of theparty's liberal wing. In addition, it is considered a close Badrawi opposition members inEgypt.


Al Arabyia announced a few hours before, citing the Egyptian public television, thatMubarak has resigned as head of the NDP, but will continue to remain president.



U.S. special envoy to Egypt Frank Wisner, said that the resignation of NDP leaders is"a positive thing, " adding that President Hosni Mubarak "should remain in power fornow, to drive the changes necessary political transition. "



Wisner's statement appears to contradict previous statements of U.S. officials, whoasked Mubarak to immediately start the country's transition to democracy, called forprotesters to demonstrate this for two weeks on the streets of Egypt.
